THE DETECTOR LISTENING OUT FOR GUNSHOT

A US company has developed a system to detect gunshots in buildings and immediately alert the police.
Designed for use in schools, companies and government buildings, the Guardian system relies on a network of inconspicuous white boxes installed throughout a location.
Each box contains a microphone, designed to differentiate between gunshots and other loud noises, and an infrared camera to detect muzzle flashes.
If activated, the system alerts building and emergency personnel in less than a second, potentially reducing the response time of emergency services.
